BBC presenter Jemma Cooper brands broadcaster 'The Devil' after quitting

BBC presenter Jemma Cooper has branded the broadcaster “The Devil”.

The experienced news and weather presenter took the angry pot-shot having left the corporation, following taking part in anti-lockdown protests.

Jemma was pulled off air for three months after YouTube footage emerged of her at a Covid conspiracy rally.

And it has now come to light the seasoned 49-year-old presenter, who joined the BBC back in 1999, has left after working for the Beeb for nearly three decades.

A BBC spokesperson declined to comment on the reason for Jemma’s departure, but did confirm she had left the broadcaster.

“Jemma no longer works for the BBC,” said the source.

Jemma’s BBC blast came courtesy of a Covid-denial WhatsApp group in which she was asked: “Are you the weather girl Jemma?”

Jemma is said to have written: “Yes alas I work for the devil at the moment.

“I joined the corporation in 1999 when I was 28 and fully asleep. Comatose.”

She pleaded guilty when she appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on December 3.

When tested, Jemma was found to have 71 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 35.

Magistrates fined her £440 and told her to pay a £44 victim surcharge as well as £85 court costs.

Her previous BBC profile stated: “Journalism is in my blood and I am confident about telling the weather story every day but weather is a science and I have put a lot of effort in to learn as much as I can about it.”

But Jemma’s outburst come just four months after a BBC whistleblower claimed one BBC colleague was “left in tears” following a row with Gemma over the protests.

“She said she was adamant Covid is not a real thing. One employee was left in tears by the conversation.

“It has become a thing in the newsroom which we call ‘Where’s Wally’. People find Twitter videos of lockdown protests and look for Jemma.”

Jemma joined the BBC in the North in 1999 and moved to BBC Bristol a year later.

She has so far declined to comment on leaving the corporation.
