BBC Breakfast’sDan Walker was left red-faced after having to apologise to his co-host Nina Warhurst live on air after making a dig towards her weight.
On Tuesday’s programme, Dan presented a segment alongside Nina where reporter Ben Boulous discussed the latest Christmas Royal Mail updates.
Reporter Ben said: “Nina and Dan, I thought what better way than to wrap a little Christmas parcel from me to you. I had a look around my flat and I found a little box of chocolates and I’ve lovingly wrapped it.
“I say a box of chocolate its literally the box, the chocolates have been consumed already, but it’s Christmas it’s the thought that counts, right?”

Nina then jokingly replied: “Absolutely, I will definitely be hot-footing it in the office on Christmas day in order to collect that empty box. Thank you, Ben.”
Dan then accidentally offended Nina and said: “It keeps the weight down as well knowing there’s not any chocolate in it.”
Shocked by his comment, Nina said: “What are you saying?”
Looking guilty, Dan panicked and said: “No, not your weight!”

“Get out, get out while you can! It’s time now for the news, travel and the weather while I apologise profusely to Nina.”
Luckily, Nina laughed and brushed off the situation but still didn’t let Dan off the hook completely and added in a little jibe before the segment moved on, by telling him “it’s too late”.

Reporter Ben was filming live from London and issuing viewers with the latest news from Royal Mail and informing BBC Breakfast fans about the last-minute delivery information.
He explained that Tuesday was in fact the last day people could send out any Christmas post in time for the big day via first-class.
However, for those who haven’t sorted all their gifts out yet, he did reveal that a select few retailers are still offering last-minute delivery slots such as Asos and John Lewis.
