Ben Shephard recently teased that Piers Morgan could make a return to Good Morning Britian and it appears that fans are in favour, flooding social media with demands.
Viewers of the breakfast programme have also expressed their desire to see Piers’ fill his old seat, claiming that viewers have switched over since his departure.
It’s reported that viewing figures have been declining from their all-time high of 1.9 million viewers tuning in on the day Piers sensationally hit out at Meghan Markle.
Now, it’s believed that just over 451,000 viewers have been tuning in on a daily basis following his departure in March 2021.
Speaking to Daily Star, backstage at the TRIC Awards, Ben explained: “I don’t doubt at some point he will make a reappearance.”
Fans have also taken to Twitter following the news that Piers was crowned the Best Television presenter at last night’s glitzy event.
The official Twitter page for Good Morning Britain shared a snippet of Susanna Reid praising her former co-star Piers, who took home the Best News Presenter award at the event.
However, despite the post celebrating Piers’ victory, many flooded to the replies section to share their thoughts following his exit.
One penned: “PM [Piers Morgan] was the best thing that happened to GMB.”
While a second typed: “Bring back @piersmorgan.”
“No Piers, no point,” said another.
Before a fourth commented: “And now he’s gone, with most of the viewers.”
Speaking about Piers on today’s edition of Good Morning Britain, Susanna said: “Congratulations to Piers,” before she was interrupted by Justin Timberlake’s song, Can’t Stop The Feeling which co-anchor Ben Shephard pointed out was the soundtrack to the 2016 film, Trolls.
“Just as I said, ‘congratulations Piers Morgan’, for best news presenter”, joked Susanna.
She continued: “There was an absolutely lovely moment yesterday where he said it was teamwork that made the dream work and invited me up on stage – it’s very well deserved.
“But, it’s down to you – no one has held politicians to account in a more rigorous way than you did, Piers during the pandemic and congratulations.”
While accepting his award, Piers told the crowd: “I know it all ended a bit dramatically earlier this year but we had a good run… five years and I spent all five years with Susanna Reid.
“It’s a bit weird, you end up like you’ve got this extra wife and she doesn’t even get the good bits – and they’re very good bits, I have to say!”
