Biggest changes to Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – including no audience

The boys are back in town!

Ant and Dec return to our TV screens for their award-winning Saturday Night Takeaway tonight.

But what new surprises do the dynamic due have up their sleeves for us?

Well, unfortunately there won’t be a live audience given the current coronavirus pandemic.

However, the inventive Geordie presenters have promised a whole hosts of treats for the viewers to savour in this, the 17th series of the popular show.

And there will be a brand new interactive “virtual wall” so the audience can still participate.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Dec revealed: “Our audience is on the night, we’re working on our wall to make it much more of a two-way exchange with our audience.

“We’ve researched ways to do a much more interactive, virtual wall. More than any other show has done.”

Coronavirus has crippled the UK in the last year and Ant and Dec were keen to raise the spirit of the nation with a segment dedicated to lockdown heroes.

“We thought that this year, probably more than ever, people have been going above and beyond in helping people in communities and their families.

“We wanted to celebrate some good stuff and just shine a light on the more positive side of life.”

Undercover and I’m A Celebrity….Get Out Of Me Ear will also both return for the new series, as well as the popular Pandas Ban & Boo after a successful debut last series at London Zoo.

The I’m A Celebrity….Get Out Of Me Ear segment of the show proved especially successful in last series.

“We’ve got some great celebs – and wound them up a treat,” admitted Ant.

Dec added: “We did Davina McCall and we did Jamie and Harry Redknapp. Celebrities wear a hidden earpiece and well tell them what to do just to make them cringe for hours.”

And there’s also a fresh scripted comedy serial for the new series, in which Ant and Dec are cloned.

“We’ve been cloned – and these close get up to bad things,” added Ant.

“It’s up to us, the real Ant and Dec, to stop the evil Ant Dec. We’ve got a great bunch of celebs involved. Bear Grylls is involved, Billy Bailey….”

There will be brand-new studio games and live surprises, which be unleashed upon the audience and TV viewers.

And for the first-time ever the show will have an exclusive show on the ITV Hub, with seven 10-minute episodes for fans to savour.
