Marvel movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has temporarily stopped production after lead actress Letitia Wright gets injured while on-set.
When filming on location in Boston, Wright was injured while shooting a sequence involving a stunt rig, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
Marvel Studios announced in August at the time that Wright’s injury would not affect the filming schedule.
Production has been shooting around her character Shuri, the sister of Black Panther T’Challa.
Wrights character Shuri has become a fan favourite breakout in the 2018 movie which grossed $1.3 billion and won three Oscars.
After Chadwick Boseman died in August 2020 from cancer, Wright’s character has become the lead of the sequel.
After being injured, Wright jetted off to London, UK, where she has remained since,
Director of Wakanda Forever, Ryan Coogar, has said he has shot all the footage he and his crew can for the time being until Wright returns.
For the last two months, most scenes have been filmed in Atlanta.
Sources told The Hollywood Star that the stoppage in production is allowing the team to get things back on track for an early start in 2022.
The production of Wakanda Forever is reportedly shutting down the week of Thanksgiving.
The source said: “Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022.”
A statement from a representative for Wright has said: “Letitia kindly asks that you keep her in your prayers.”
Marvel has already pushed back the release date for the new Black Panther from July 8, 2022, to November 11, 2022.
When the 27-year-old actress first got injured on the overnight shoot a statement given to Deadline read: “Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
“She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.”

Last month Wright denied making anti-vaccination remarks on the set of Black Panther 2.
This follows as a year ago in December 2020, the actress faced backlash for sharing a video on Twitter that questioned the safety of the Covid-19 vaccination.
