Fans everywhere were heartbroken when it was revealed that Regé-Jean Page wouldn’t be returning for a second series of the smash hit show Bridgerton.
He stole hearts as the gorgeous Duke of Hastings, and viewers were hoping to see much more of him.
They can get their fix of Regé-Jean Page in a new role though, after it’s been reported that he has signed up to star in new, reimagined version of The Saint for Paramount Pictures.
Sources tell Deadline that not only will he be starring in the show, but he will be executive producer of the thrilling series too.
He will be joined by Lorenzo DiBonaventura, Brad Krevoy and Mark Vahradian to produce, and Kwame Kwei-Armahis writing the script.
The show will be partly based on Leslie Charteris’ 1920s book series, and the 1960’s UK TV series that followed.
The iconic Roger Moore starred in the TV show, and Val Kilmer appeared in the 1997 version of the film.
Fans won’t have to remember another name, as the lead character is also called Simon.
The plot of the show follows Simon Templar, better known as The Saint.
He’s described as a Robin Hood-esque criminal and thief for hire, in search of adventure around the world (and presumably getting up to mischief).
Producers are keeping details close to their chest for now, but insiders say this will be a completely new take and a brand new version of the character.
Regé-Jean has also been cast alongside Chris Pine in a new Dungeons and Dragons movie that is as-yet-untitled.
Since Bridgerton, he has been keeping busy working on a Netflix film called The Gray Man, starring opposite Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
The rumours (and hopes) that he will be the next James Bond also continue to swirl.
