Britney Spears’ court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham earns $10,000 per week, paid for out of the singing megastar’s pocket, a fellow attorney has suggested.
That’s around £7,100 each week – and more than £4.4million since he was appointed to be her lawyer 13 years ago.
Lisa McCarley, a probate law expert and fellow attorney, suggested Britney’s situation represents a “systemic flaw” in the US legal system.
Appearing on the new BBC documentary The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship, which delved into Britney’s ongoing conservatorship battle, Lisa explained how the conservatorship battle first began.
“Clearly something happened after she gave birth – she was expressing feelings that she didn’t want to be here anymore,” she said.

“She’s having a breakdown. and her father finds an attorney.”
Sam Ingham was appointed to represent Britney’s interests over the years, with her estate footing the bill.
“It is my understanding that Mr Ingham receives $10,000 a week,” Lisa explained. “I’m very upset by the whole thing. There is no outside agency or entity that you can talk to to say, ‘This is a systemic flaw and I’d like to see the whole thing unwound.’”
The attorney continued: “When they deprived her of her own attorney, of her own choice, that is the day that justice died for Britney Spears.”

Britney was first entered into a conservatorship in 2008 following health struggles, granting her dad Jamie Spears control over her business and personal affairs.
The BBC documentary, fronted by journalist Mobeen Azhar, also claimed Britney could be held under conservatorship due to a potential dementia diagnosis.
One of the singer’s most devoted fans, Hayley, spoke to Mobeen about the far-out claim.
“I believe there’s doctors out there – this is just my personal opinion, don’t want to get anyone sued, this is not out there legally – that are being paid off, for example, they have her on medication for dementia.”

A stunned Mobeen asked: “For dementia?”
Hayley explained: “For dementia. I’ve seen dementia, and there’s no way any dementia patient is going on world tours, doing Vegas residencies, is learning 27 like back-to-back combo numbers, full choreo, no honey, that is not happening.”
Mobeen wasn’t entirely convinced by the jaw-dropping theory, but admitted it wasn’t impossible.
Last week she requested to speak in court about the current situation, with a date set for June 23.

Choreographer to the stars Brian Friedman – whose working relationship and friendship with Britney started in the late 90s – spoke on the Lorraine show about the upcoming court date.
He told Lorraine: “She is going to be speaking at her next hearing. She wants to have her voice be heard. I think that’s the best thing for everyone.”
He added that Britney would finally be able to “speak her truth”.
Brian admitted that: “The conservatorship was put in place for good reasons in the beginning and I think it was the right decision then and I think things have definitely changed now and she has grown a lot.”
