Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins fans were left frantic for Ulrika Jonsson, as she was rushed into an ambulance ahead of the show’s first major challenge.
The Swedish-British model had just been forced to swim out of a boat in freezing cold water, before joining her teammates in running up a hill to reach camp.
Ulrika said she “didn’t want to be forgotten” or discounted, and admitted she still “feels 25” in age – but that the show was one of the scariest things she’d ever been invited to experience.
But as they made their way uphill, Ulrika complained that her hands and feet had gone numb – leading medics to be rushed to the scene.
The star was quickly rushed off the track and into a waiting ambulance by medics, who explained: “You’ve got the Raynaud’s, then on top of that you’ve got the mild hypothermia.”
Ulrika said she thought it was a combination of the cold and dehydration that led her body to freeze up.
And fans on Twitter were immediately concerned for the star, with one writing: “Ulrika Jonsson does not look well on Celeb SAS!”
“Poor Ulrika!” someone else followed up, as another fan said: “Feel bad for Ulrika.”
A fourth viewer chimed in: “I feel for Ulrika.”
Another predicted she would be the first to hand in her number and quit the show, writing: “Think Ulrika will be one of the first ones off tbh…”
Another followed up: “Who’s betting that Ulrika will be the first to hand in her number?”
However, others were simply glad to see Ulrika on their screens, as one wrote: “Why are there so many great celebs on #SASWhoDaresWins this year? They’re so good! Wishing the best of luck to [Jake Quickenden, Kerry Katona, Saira Khan, Wes Nelson, Alexandra Burke] and Ulrika Jonsson!”
Following her assessment for hypothermia, Ulrika was thankfully given the all-clear to rejoin the course and get to know her new celeb teammates.
The SAS commentator, however, threw things into doubt, as he announced: “After missing the first task due to medical issues, the DS need to decide if Ulrika deserves her place on the course.”
They pulled her in for a briefing, with Ulrika explaining: “I just got very cold, Staff. I feel disappointed in my body. I’m not sure anything could have prepared me for [the course].”
Ulrika said she wanted to take part in the show because she “wants to see what fears she can face” after being “predominantly a mum” for the last few years.
Eventually, she was given the go-ahead to rejoin her fellow contestants once more, after some stern words of warning from the DS.
Fans clearly felt for her plight, as one tweeted: “Well done Ulrika for your honesty. I love stuff like this which calls on real integrity and inner strength. Feel inspired already!”
