Coleen Rooney reportedly executed a “dummy run” of her Wagatha Christie-style investigation into a leak in her inner circle.
Court documents obtained by The Sun allegedly claim that extensive planning went into the hunt that led to Coleen outing supposed culprit Rebekah Vardy – with the investigation beginning in January 2019.
The 35-year-old star – husband to England footballer Wayne Rooney – became concerned after a number of highly personal stories were leaked to the press.
She then allegedly conducted a search of social media accounts concerning around 300 pages of “trusted friends and family”, before compiling a list of likely culprits.
According to The Sun, Coleen’s focus was set on those that she believed had a “track record or reputation” for leaking private information or “courting close links”.
In order to expose the alleged culprit, Coleen is thought to have invented fake posts “interspersed with true or mundane ones” to ‘prove’ that her own account was going about its business as usual.
All of the posts – aside from five – were seen only by an account belonging to Leicester City player Jamie Vardy’s wife Rebekah.
Court documents reportedly detail the five exceptions to Rebekah’s sight, including two “dummy run” posts made in April that year.
The test-run posts were made public at the time – and when Coleen set her plan into motion, not even hubby Wayne was aware of it.
None of the posts, which were seen by Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley and other unnamed individuals, led to any story being printed in the press, documents allege.
The court documents add: “This led to her belief that it was the Claimant who was responsible for the leak, given her established history and habitual practice of providing private information to journalists and the Press.
“The Defendant had also heard rumours that the Claimant was responsible for similar leaks or disclosure of private information from other so-called WAGS or celebrities.”
Rebekah is thought to be in the midst of suing Coleen for libel over the public accusation that she was the mole supposedly outed in the viral Wagatha social media post.
The infamous post, which made a number of allegations against Rebekah Vardy, concluded: “I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them.
“It’s……. Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
Rebecca is allegedly spending £837,735 fighting her case in court, while Coleen has budgeted £537,029.
