Stephen Mangan has teased book rival Meghan Markle, telling her to stick to what she’s good at.
The actor, comedian and presenter was on Good Morning Britain chatting to Susanna Reid and Adil Ray from an art trail in central London.
Like Meghan, he has been working hard on a children’s book during lockdown.
Susanna, 50, couldn’t help but bring up the The Bench, the Duchess’ vision of family life through the eyes of a mother.
“It seems like writing children’s books is all the rage at the moment,” Susanna said.
“You are in competition with the Duchess of Sussex.”
Stephen, 52, quickly replied: “It’s the sort of competition I don’t need.
“These royals should stick to what they’re good at and leave writing children’s books to people who are hiding from their children, like me!”
Adil and Susanna giggled at his joke as the front cover of his book Escape The Rooms flashed up on screen.
But for former GMB host Piers Morgan, it seems to be no laughing matter.
He launched a fresh savage attack on the pregnant Duchess of Sussex.
Piers slammed her new book about dads and sons because he said she has an “appalling relationship” with her own father Thomas Markle.
He wrote in his Daily Mail column: “I don’t wish to rain on the comically sycophantic parade, but I suspect this book will become an instant historical classic for all the wrong reasons.
“The whole notion of Meghan Markle dishing out advice to anyone about the relationship between fathers and children is absolutely ridiculous given the appalling relationships she and her husband have with their own fathers.
“Yet her brazen decision to do it anyway is so sadly typical of a woman whose tendency for staggering hypocrisy is only matched by her extraordinary tone-deafness.
“I’d honestly rather hear parenting tips from Britney Spears’s god-awful father because at least they still talk to each other.”
