Corrie Tommy Orpington star's bond with real-life brother who played evil Rick Neelan

Coronation Street characters Tommy Orpington and Rick Neelan are played by real-life brothers Greg Wood and Matt Milburn.

Greg, 42, began acting in 2000 after landing a role in the rival soap, Hollyoaks, playing one of the bullies in the groundbreaking portrayal of Luke Morgan’s rape.

The Manchester-born actor went on to join Corrie in 2009, in which he portrayed Rick Neelan, a villain who acts as a loan shark.

Rick originally gave a loan to Joe McIntyre, played by Reece Dinsdale, who needed money due to being in debt.

After Joe failed to pay back the money, the notorious man went to his house where Joe gave him his van and promised him he would get the rest of the money.

Rick returned numerous times in the following months, and pretended to be interested in buying Joe’s fiancée Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) house, before demanding money from Joe.

Greg returned to Coronation Street in 2012, seeing his character this time targeting Tommy Duckworth and kidnapping Rita Tanner on her wedding day.

The actor once again returned in 2019, and will now see his character trying to force Gary into conning the elderly out of their life savings in a bid to make some fast cash.

Greg’s brother, on the other hand, Matt Milburn, made his Corrie debut a couple of years later, and was introduced to the viewers as famous Weatherfield County footballer Tommy, in 2016.

The actor had, too, made his acting debut in Hollyoaks where played the role of Joe Spencer between 2004 and 2006.

Matt has since made regular appearances in Coronation Street since 2016, when he hired Michelle Connor as his wedding planner, leaving her then-husband Steve McDonald starstruck.

Tommy Orpington is set to take to the stand to defend Coronation Street killer Corey Brent in court

Moreover, Corrie fans have seen Tommy befriending Steve, Tim, Kevin, and Tyrone, who have all been fighting for his attention.

Tommy is set to take to the witness box on Friday night during Seb Franklin’s brutal murder trial.

He gives Corey a glowing character reference, while outside court, Abi launches a verbal attack on Corey’s dad Stefan, accusing him of trying to buy his son’s innocence with bribes.

Viewers later witnessed a determined Abi searches Stefan’s social media accounts.

Question is will she find any proof?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 7.30pm
