Dan Walker blasts BBC colleague over 'next level laziness' after loo discovery

Dan Walker refused to let his BBC colleague’s “laziness” slide when he spotted some littering in the bathroom of his work office.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 44, spotted a newspaper planted on the floor of the bog on Saturday morning and paused to take a photo.

Sharing the snap to Twitter, Dan scolded the mystery colleague for leaving the newspaper behind, adding the hashtags “#SomeoneElsesProblem” “#WorkToilet” to the end of his tweet.

He vented: “I’m all for having something to read on the throne but this is next level laziness.”

The thread below the post was filled with mixed reactions – while some agreed it was a lazy act, others pointed out the offender had left some reading material for the next person in the loo.

Dan accused his colleague of “next level laziness” on Saturday

“Is this Q2? The one on the far right? In which case it is a regular offender because I always walk in to papers left open on the floor like this,” wrote one of his colleagues.

And a second fan argued: “Nah, thoughtful person who’s paying it forward for the next person. God bless that person.”

Dan has been a fixture at the BBC since the early noughties, when he joined the regional news programme North West Tonight.

In 2016, he replaced Bill Turnbull as a lead presenter on BBC Breakfast, working alongside the likes of Naga Munchetty and Louise Minchin on the weekday show.

While he has been a familiar face on television for the best part of two decades, Dan owes his start in the entertainment industry to his wife Sarah.

During a 2002 interview with Day One magazine, the dad-of-three admitted Sarah encouraged him to pursue sports reporting as a career, which eventually opened doors for him at the BBC.

“My big chance came when my fiancee Sarah (now my wife) heard about a competition on Hallam FM for their sports reporter of the year,” he said.

“Looking back I can see that it was incredibly providential. Two days previously I had been turned down for a teaching course in Sheffield because they thought I was, ‘too much of a goon’.

“Spurred on by Sarah’s enthusiasm I sent in a commentary tape that I had recorded into my dad’s stone-age tape recorder and won the competition. Within two weeks I was working on the Saturday sports show, and later got a job at Piccadilly Radio (Key 103) in Manchester.”
