The final episode of BBC’s sci-fi drama Doctor Who aired on Sunday night, however, die-hard fans were left unimpressed with the confusing storyline.
Viewers have often aired their complaints throughout the series as the immensely mystifying plot twists have left them with many questions.
But the last episode titled The Vanquishers, only seemed to highlight that many fans didn’t understand what the Doctor was up to as the story reached its conclusion.
Taking to Twitter, fans aired their thoughts on the show while some appeared to criticise Doctor Who writer Chris Chibnall.
One fan wrote: “Does anyone understand what is going on in this season of #DrWho ?”
Another fan penned: “I’ve watched gazillions of #DrWho episodes and I can’t make head nor tail of this one. Russell T can’t be back in charge quick enough and we can just write the entire Chibnall era off as alternative universe stuff.”
A third said: “BTW, we are never really told what the Flux is, where it came from and other basics, other than that it is a (plot-)handy toy of the Division. Limits possibilities for opposing it+seems weak story-wise to me.”
“Why can American writers do really good, easy to comprehend sci-fi while British writer are clueless? #DoctorWhoFlux #DrWho They confuse convoluted plots with good writing. Too many characters shouting gobbledegook at each other,” a fourth added.
The finale of Doctor Who opened with earth facing attacks on all sides.
But as if the end of the universe wasn’t bad enough, the Sontarans have called for a truce with their foes, which they plan to use as an intergalactic way destroy them, too.
Speaking about his series writer Chris explained that he longed to make sure that he created a “massive story.”
The writer said: “My vision for the series was to create a massive story, bigger than we’ve ever told with Jodie’s Doctor.”
