Eamonn Holmes supported by fans as he gives update on chronic pain health battle

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has revealed he is “feeling positive” having finally got rid of his crippling back pain.

The This Morning star has been struggling with chronic back pain for a number of months, stemming from a hip injury.

But after a round of successful steroid injections, 61-year-old Eamonn is optimistic he is now back on track to making a full recovery.

He tweeted: “Another session of Physio rehab – feels like I’m making progress – slowly but surely.

“Chronic pain now gone because of Steroid injections – thank God. Got to strengthen my back now.

“Small steps, literally but feeling positive. Thanks for sharing your stories.”

However, despite Eamonn’s positive news, he and wife Ruth Langsford won’t be hosting the ITV daytime show over the half-term break.

The popular couple usually take over the holiday slot to give regular hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby a welcome break with their families.

However, Eamonn, who has been in agony for months, still has plenty of work to do get himself back fighting fit.

And wife Ruth explained: “Now, many of you who follow Eamonn on social media will know he has been talking a lot about chronic pain.

“It’s ironic that he’s not here because he had to nip to the loo. It takes him so long walking, so he’s just on his way back. It takes him longer to walk now.”

Eamonn recalled: “About a month ago I did something to my back, I don’t know what.

“It could have been getting into a car, getting out of bed, whatever.”

And it wasn’t long before fans of the seasoned broadcaster offered their support, especially having watched him document his pain in recent weeks.

One wrote: “Really glad to hear you’re on the mend, Eamonn. Fantastic stuff!” to which Eamonn replied: “I’m determined to Rory. We all take our health for granted. Hope u r ok too.”(sic)

“Thinking of you Eamonn. It’s horrible to think of you or anyone in pain. You’ve highlighted the agony so many people suffer on a daily basis. I hear a trip to Belfast can work wonders!” a second penned.

Eamonn answered: “Spot on. Thank God that will be remedied very soon. Impressed by your RNLI role. Always so full of admiration for those who volunteer and the work they do. Hope u r well.”(sic)

A third added: “So glad you’re on the road to recovery! Hopefully you’ll be visiting Northern Ireland soon!”

The Irish presenter beamed as he teased: “Sooner than u may think.”(sic)

“Nothing worse than chronic pain, it’s so depressing especially if it hurts more when lying in bed. Take care my friend,” a fourth wrote.

The host responded: “That’s a big difference. I can now sleep easily. It means so much and I am so thankful.”
