EastEnders Adam Woodyatt in catfishing hell as imposters use him to chat up fans

An imposter posed as EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt online to lure in his female fans.

The TV star – who has played Ian Beale in the BBC soap for 36 years – was left furious after discovering the bogus accounts had sent out private messages to hundreds of his followers.

Many were asked to supply personal details. Others were invited to chat on WhatsApp.

Adam, 52, urged all those affected to report the fake profiles in a bid to put a stop to the creepy scammer.

He said: “I’m getting lots of messages telling me that someone is trying to message and follow people from accounts claiming to be my private account.

“Please report and block anyone contacting you like this.

“This is my only Instagram account.

“It has a blue tick.’’

Many were quick to take to the social media post to tell Adam they had reported the fake after they had been contacted. One replied: “Well said. I received a message.

“It’s worrying but I smelt a rat straight away.’

While another said: “I got messages this morning…lots of messages. I did report and block.

“He was being a right t**t.’’

Adam is the latest soap star to be targeted by online imposters.

Last month his co-star Jake Wood, who plays lothario Max Branning was left raging after someone set up a fake profile in a bid to contact his followers.

Jake, 48, who is set to leave the soap this month, was also left furious after hackers deleted all his photos from his account.

The star later deleted his social media account but it didn’t take long for him to return to his page to share a series of new snaps.

Adam is currently taking an extended break from the show to focus on other projects.

EastEnders continues on Friday at 8pm on BBC.
