Fearne Cotton struggling for TV work after 'losing count' of jobs she's lost

Fearne Cotton has said she is focusing on life away from the small screen – after being snubbed for telly jobs.

The former Celebrity Juice star’s Happy Place podcast has been a hit and her self-help guides are best-sellers.

But in her new book Speak Your Truth, she revealed she hasn’t been offered TV work for more than a year.

And she claimed that she has been taken off or sacked from so many shows that she has “lost count”.

Fearne, 39, said: “Over the last few years I have slowly been less drawn to the jobs I had become known for.

“I started feeling more and more physically uncomfortable with the roles I was taking on and started to question if I was right for them at all.“

She then admitted that that the more uncomfortable she felt, the less she got asked to appear on TV, revealing that she hasn’t been asked to do a TV job for over a year.

Fearne added: “I’ve been taken off (OK, sacked) from so many TV jobs over the last five years that I’ve lost count“, adding that the knocks made her lose confidence in herself.

“I felt unloved and started to wonder what was wrong with me. Why were all of my peers getting jobs left, right and centre but not me? Was I faulty? Annoying? Dressing incorrectly? Asking the wrong questions?

“Or maybe, just maybe, this is a new path for me. My truth is exposing what I really enjoy and making space for more of it.?”

However, she said she’s been finding huge success away from the telly though.

The former Top of the Pops host launched her Happy Place podcast in 2018, and at the time of her writing her latest book, it had had 33 million downloads.

Alongside the podcast, she organises the Happy Place Festival, and is also working on charity initiatives as well as other ideas.

Fearne said she “used to believe that TV equalled success” but now she wants to “dive fully into the world of mental health, wellbeing and deep conversation”.

She goes on to admit that she was recently told that a TV show she used to present, was coming back – without her.

And although Fearne reveals that she perhaps felt “not good enough”, she equally sees it as an opportunity to be able to spend more time at home with her kids and build on Happy Place.
