Hollywood superstar George Clooney once joked about his “irritation” that pals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘s son Archie was born on his birthday.
George and little Archie shared May 6 as their special day, but the former previously joked that his own birthday would now be eclipsed by the tot.
Archie was born back in 2019 and George said to Extra on his 58th birthday that “it’s a big day for me, and now some royal child has been born”.
He added: “It’s kind of irritating, if you think about it.
“Because I’ve already had to split [my birthday] with Orson Welles, Sigmund Freud, and now this [baby] comes in.
“I’m moving down the line very quickly.”
George and his wife Amal were famously invited to Meghan and Harry’s star-studded Windsor Abbey wedding back in 2018, sparking confusion about whether the couples were pals and didn’t really know each other.
Differing accounts have claimed that Amal and Meghan are close friends, with others saying the couples are just acquaintances.
A Kensington Palace insider claimed at the time that Amal and Meghan were “much more friendly with each other and talk more regularly than George and Harry do”, adding Meghan and Amal had “become close friends”.
They added to InStyle: “It helps they’re both UK-based now, but they have been able to relate on a lot about their lifestyles, especially how to deal with being thrust into new situations in the public spotlight.
“Amal is like a confidante to Meghan.”
George confirmed the friendship, previously telling MailOnline: “We live not too far from one another and we have dinners and stuff and we’re friends with them for all the reasons that you’re friends with anybody.
“They’re just really nice, fun, kind people, they’re a very loving couple, and they’re going to be great parents.”
