GMB fans call for Alex Beresford to replace Piers Morgan after explosive clash

Good Morning Britain viewers have called for Alex Beresford to replace Piers Morgan on the show, after the ITV co-stars got locked in a heated clash over Meghan Markle.

Weatherman Alex previously called Piers out over Twitter, condemning his coverage of Oprah Winfrey’s bombshell interview with Meghan and Prince Harry.

Appearing on Tuesday’s show, Alex spoke out against Piers’ treatment of the Royal couple, admitting Monday’s GMB had been “hard to watch”.

Piers stormed off set, refusing to engage in a debate with Alex and telling the ITV crew: “Sorry, can’t do this.”

After almost 15 minutes off-air, Piers finally returned, with a heated argument ensuing between the presenter and the ITV meteorologist.

Taking to Twitter, viewers were impressed by Alex’s level-headed debate on the show, with many calling for him to become a permanent presenter.

One said: “Can Alex Beresford replace Piers Morgan now? Thanks #GMB.”

“Can we just have @alexberesfordTV replace @piersmorgan for good! Someone who can interview and listen to the viewpoint and lived experiences of Black people and people of colour, whilst being able to challenge them appropriately, without the baby tantrums!” added a second.

While a third remarked: “Bring Alex back on!! And give him a permanent spot on the panel. He should replace Piers Morgan.”

“@GMB Any chance you could replace @piersmorgan with @alexberesfordTV permanently #gmb” wondered a fourth.

Piers walked off the show when Alex brought up his former friendship with the Duchess of Sussex, saying: “I understand that you do not like Meghan Markle and you have made it clear so many times – so many times on this programme.

“And I understand you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She is entitled to cut you off if she wants to.

“Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? Now, I do not think she has. But yet you continue to trash her.”

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
