Things turned very awkward on Good Morning Britain as Adil Ray demanded to know why Susanna Reid isn’t married.
The duo were hosting a debate about if marriage is sexist in 2021.
Debbie McGee and Jenny Bennett were invited on to discuss the matter – but it was the presenters who really got the breakfast show’s viewers talking.
It came after Adil was criticised for his insensitive ‘few tipples’ joke to troubled football icon Paul Gascoigne on Wednesday’s GMB edition.
As the interviews came to an end on Thursday, Adil thanked the pair for taking part in the chat.
He then turned to Susanna, 50, and started to probe.
She saw his question coming, and cut him off before he managed to begin quizzing her, saying: “Nope. Never been married.”
He returned, smiling: “Is your reason for not getting married similar to Jenny? You’re against the idea of marriage?”
She hit back, telling her co-star: “It’s just a personal choice. Just a personal choice.”
Adil, turning to the camera, told viewers: “That’s all we’re going to get out of her this morning, we won’t be getting anymore.”
Susanna laughed it all off and quickly moved the show on to the weather, keen to avoid discussing the subject any further.
Fans took to twitter and offer their take on the on-air exchange.
One wrote: “I liked Adil until this morning.”
Another said: “That was all a bit awks @GMB.”
Susanna and football chairman Steve Parish have sparked rumours they are back together after being spotted on a dinner date in London.
Last week, she and the Crystal Palace supremo were snapped enjoying an outdoor lunch in Clapham, South London.
Susanna and Steve started dating in 2018 before splitting six months later in April 2019.
An insider at the time told The Sun: “They looked totally into each other. If ever it was in doubt whether they were an item again, this shows they are.
“Steve had his arms protectively around Susanna and tenderly planted a kiss on her head at one point before they flagged a cab.”
