Gogglebox fans were upset after the show failed to air a tribute to the late star Pete McGarry during a special one-off episode on Friday night.
Three participants of the hit Channel 4 show have passed away this year including Michael and Mary Cook, who died last month aged 61 and 92 respectively.
During the episode, which celebrated the network’s Black to Front campaign, tribute was paid to the pair – but not for Pete.
At the end of the episode, a picture of Mary and Andy was displayed with the caption: “In loving memory” along with the year of their birth and of their death.
However, Gogglebox fans were quick to question why Pete had not had a similar tribute.
One wrote on Twitter: “Nice tribute to Mary and Andy. Pete also died or did he get a tribute in the last series? #gogglebox”.
And another commented: “#Gogglebox @Gogglebox very moving tributes for Mary Cook and Andy Michael’s, but you left out Pete.”
However, fans will remember that the show paid tribute to the late Pete during an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox in July.
A touching message was made to Pete at the end of the episode which aired on July 2, with a picture of him and his wife Linda looking lovingly at each other with the years “1950-2021” to mark the year he was born and died.
Gogglebox won at the National Television Awards earlier in the week, picking up the Factual Award with the cast on hand to triumphantly collect the gong.
