Halle Berry, 55, responds to fan who mistakes her for actress, 21, with same name

Hollywood superstar Halle Berry left one fan a little red-faced after she humorously responded to a comment where she had been mistaken for the 21-year-old singer and The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey.

The 55-year-old actress had a very courteous and humorous response after being mistaken for her younger namesake, who has been announced to star as the beloved Disney princess Ariel in a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid set for 2023.

One fan unwittingly tweeted at Berry: “Can’t wait to see you under da sea!,” making an apparent reference to the Little Mermaid by quoting the iconic theme song.

Halle, who has appeared in blockbuster classics like Cat Woman and X Men, was no diva about the little mishap.

She sweetly but comically replied: “…wrong Halle lol. I can’t wait to see her too though!” – showing it’s all love between the two Halles.

The fan mistook Halle for the 21-year-old Halle Bailey, who is one half of the sister-singing R&B duo Halle X Chloe and whose hits include “Do it” and “Forgive Me.”

Throughout the years, Halle has continued to show her support to the younger Halle as there’s no doubt that this confusion blunder was not the first time there’s been some confusion around the two celebrities who share the same first name.

Back in 2019, Berry publicly supported the then 19-year-old actress and singer when it had been announced that she’d be playing the Disney princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid live-action movie.

At the time, Hallie tweeted: “In case you needed a reminder… Halles get it DONE. Congratulations @chloexhalle on this amazing opportunity, we can’t wait to see what you do!” – proving that she’s nothing but proud for her mini-me.

Singer Halle Bailey responded to the appraisal, and she tweeted: “This means the world. Happy to share names with you love you lots.” – which had left some fans gushing about the two icons’ interaction.

Disney fans worldwide eagerly wait for any updates about the Disney remake as the star-studded Hollywood line-up includes Marvel’s Akwafina as Scuttle and Bridesmaid’s Melissa McCarthy as the villain Ursula.

One fan tweeted the R&B singer and said:”Give us some little mermaid tea.”

Much to everyone’s disappointment, she replied: “Sorry baby, can’t.”

The Little Mermaid is set to arrive in 2023, but an exact release date is yet to be announced.
