Halle Berry looks unrecognisable at the 2021 Oscars with edgy cropped hairdo

Award-winning actress Halle Berry has never been shy to make a statement with her looks and at this year’s Oscars, the star definitely took centre stage after she turned up rocking a completely new hairdo.

Appearing on the red carpet with her partner Van Hunt, Halle, 54, stepped out in a soft berry hued strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown.

As she posed comfortably for pictures outside Union Station in Los Angeles, Halle made sure to highlight her dress’s amazing flow and bounce.

Despite her dress being one of the main focal points and topics of conversation, many were surprised to see the star sporting a brand new bob haircut with a choppy fringe.

The edgy new chop highlighted her famously youthful and beautiful appearance, while only a hint of the fringe skimmed the top of her forehead.

Just before she appeared on the red carpet, the Monster’s Ball star took to her Instagram stories to let her fans know that she was going in for a new look, as she posted a picture of her hair on the floor.

Fans couldn’t get enough of Halle’s new image overhaul and took to Twitter to air their views.

One fan commented: “I love the new hairstyle..but NOBODY can rock that Halle cut like Halle… I miss it sooooooo much!!”

Another penned: “I love Halle Berry’s short haircut. She is always amazing with short hair.”

“Halle Berry came to slay,” a third chimed.

However, some were indifferent to the star’s new barnet and wondered if she cut the bob herself.

The Bond actress’ new hairstyle may be a nod to her previous pixie haircut that she wore for a number of years.

Talking to In The Style in 2019, the star admitted that her haircut opened doors for her in Hollywood as she struggled to get bookings prior to the famous cut.

Halle explained: “I think that was because the directors and producers actually saw me.”

“Before that, I had long hair like every other girl like me. When I got this haircut, I felt like my best self.”

She added: It was just all me take it or leave it, love it or hate it. I was who I was.”

Mother of two Halle, remains the first and only black woman to have won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002. The star presented her award at the 2021 ceremony joining other A-list presenters such as Brad Pitt, Zendaya, Harrison Ford and more.
