Inside millionaire Susan Boyle's ex-council home as she celebrates 60th birthday

Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle may be worth a staggering £29million but she certainly hasn’t let the fame go to her head.

The chart-topper celebrates her landmark 60th birthday today (April 1), but it’s unlikely she’d be having a big blow-out party – even if the pandemic wasn’t keeping everyone away.

Simon Cowell’s global chart-topper has shunned a luxury mansion in favour of her childhood home in West Lothian, Scotland.

Instead of opting for a sprawling complex, Subo has remained in the council house which she has called home for her entire life, buying it for a reported £65,000 after her rise to fame.

The only hint of her global success is the fact the home was done up in 2009 shortly, after she finished second on BGT, losing out to Diversity.

Inviting the cameras into her home in 2020, Subo showed OK! Magazine how she likes to keep things simple.

The vocal powerhouse said: “It’s best to be grounded and with your roots.

“It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn’t say.”

She added: “I couldn’t do anything too extravagant or over the top because I have got my parents.

“My parents will probably come back and haunt me. It’s good to stay grounded.

“You get the glamorous side and then you’ve got the more natural side.”

During her brief house tour, Susan showed off her beautiful kitchen, complete with polished surfaces and built in floor lighting.

The next room she introduced was her piano room.

On the ground floor of the house, Susan’s spare room boasts a black piano.

However, the Scottish star joked she is yet to be able to master playing it, despite clearly having an ear for a tune.

Susan laughed: “That’s a giggle for a start because I can’t even do scales!

“I’m only learning at the moment.”

Upstairs Susan has her own dressing room.

The small room is filled with large mirrored wardrobes and a chair for her to perch on as she gets ready.

In the windowsill is an ornament which reads “Dream”.

Pointing at it, the record breaking recording artist said: “That’s always my motto to keep to your dreams.

“Follow your dreams.”

The room is decorated with photos from various achievements Susan has accomplished over the years, including meeting the Pope.
