TV personality Rylan seems to have changed his name after parting ways from his husband, which isn’t the first time he has changed his name.
Back in June the star confirmed that he would be divorcing his husband of six years Dan Neal.
Following this Rylan has changed his stage name to just Rylan, dropping his double barrel surname of Clark-Neal when he has appeared on BBC’s It Takes Two and his Twitter account.
In the credits of the BBC show he now appears as ‘Rylan’.
Rylan and Dan started their relationship back in 2013 when they met on Big Brother’s Bit On The Side when Rylan was hosting and Dan was a contestant.
They tied the knot in 2014 after getting engaged in Paris and invited the likes of Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford, Katie Price, and Emma Willis to their nuptials.
However, Rylan confirmed the end of their marriage with a statement.
He said: “Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out – as the way it is being reported is unfair. I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage.
“I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help. I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time.”
Before announcing the news, Rylan had pulled out of his job hosting the semi-final coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest in May as well as taking a ten week break from his Radio 2 show.
But the new name change isn’t the only time that Rylan has tried out something different, as this isn’t even his real name.
Rylan first found fame when he first appeared on X Factor back in 2012.
He was an instant hit with fans after his iconic moment on the show when he hysterically cried when Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger told him he was through to the live shows.
Since then his career has gone from strength to strength with hosting This Morning and going into Celebrity Big Brother.
But he hasn’t always been the confident man that we see on our screens.
During his time as school he suffered awful bullying for his appearance as well as his sexuality but this didn’t sop Rylan being determined to prove his bullies wrong so he completely transformed his image.
Rylan dyed his ginger hair blond and lost weight but has since dyed his hair black which is now part of his iconic image.
He firstly decided to pursue modelling but was told that his name was too boring for the career.
Rylan was originally born Ross Richard Clark but he is only called this by his family now but during an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox last year his mum Linda accidentally let his real name slip out.
Fans couldn’t believe that Rylan wasn’t his real name when his mum said: “Ross will you stop it, I don’t want one.”
He first changed his name to Kielan at first during his modelling days but he soon changed it when he went into WHSmith and looked at the ‘R’ section in a baby name book.
This is when he discovered his iconic name Rylan which he has stuck with since.
Rylan didn’t stick with modelling as he went to Ibiza where he worked in tribute bands such as Take That and Westlife but still wanted to pursue TV fame back home.
In 2011 he competed in TV show Signed by Katie Price where he struck up a firm bond with the former glamour model as they bonded over their love for maintaining their image.
At the time Rylan said: “I am really obsessed with my image. I have in my head a certain way that I wanna look and then I’ll see someone better looking down the road and I’ll wanna look like him.
“I wouldn’t say I have a disorder or anything but if you don’t like something, then change it.”
Despite his fans knowing him as Rylan, his family still use Ross as his name.
However, The Mirror reported that Rylan’s husband Ross, who he is divorcing, only called him Rylan when they were arguing.
Rylan said: “My family call me by my real name – shock! It’s only Rylan if I’m having an argument with Dan.
“That’s when he calls me Rylan because he knows how much it winds me up. With my family, if they call me Rylan they’re taking the p**s.”
