James Argent says he could die if he catches Covid ahead of weight-loss surgery

James ‘Arg’ Argent has said he could die of coronavirus if he catches it due to his 27-stone weight as doctors have issued him a warning.

The 33-year-old TOWIE star is set to have weight-loss surgery after struggling with disordered eating for years due to his mental health battle.

During an interview on Good Morning Britain, the reality star explained the doctors warning as they said he could die from coronavirus.

He told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: “It has been worrying and it has been difficult putting on so much weight. the fact that I’ve got so big.”

Susanna asked: “What have the doctors said about your weight?”

Arg replied: “I’m currently at 27 stone, I’ve been speaking regularly at the doctors and nurses and they’ve been giving me advice.”

He continued: “They’re saying the size I am, it could be fatal. If I get Covid, I could be a goner.”

Arg said: “I’ve been struggling with my weight since I was a teenager… the last 16 years I’ve found it almost impossible to have a medium.

“It’s a really serious operation – I haven’t exactly decided which one it is going to be – a sleeve or a bypass,” he added.

Arg also said he was feeling positive about the future as his surgery has been booked.

The star feels as though he is “making positive steps”.

He said: “I have been through an awful lot, some people go through life plain sailing and other people find life a little bit difficult.

“I do believe that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Host Piers also probed James about whether he was back with on-off girlfriend Gemma Collins.

Arg replied: “We’re not officially back together.”

He added that “it’s impossible to be in a relationship with anyone”, due to staying at home during lockdown.

James confirmed they are on speaking terms as he said: “She’s no longer blocked on my phone.”

“We’re friends at the moment and we have been in contact”, he said.
