In a post on Instagram sharing the interview, Jamie Lee revealed that her family is “flourishing”.

She captioned the post with: “More from my @aarp cover story by @brianbowensmith and Meg Grant. Actually this isn’t the interview with Meg, this is now the new thing where you do a video promotion at the same time as you’re taking the photographs at the same time that you’re speaking to the journalist.

“It’s a multi faceted, cross pollinating, maxi platform way of getting the word out. Too much do you think? That’s way above my pay grade. Happy to be in the conversation as we all try to navigate this thing called ageing!”

The movie veteran said that she is shedding the “old ideas” that gender is fixed and is instead embracing that her life now is a “constant metamorphosis”.

She added: “I live by the idea that what I know is that I don’t know very much.”
