Rap mogul Jay-Z has deleted his Instagram account just one day after signing up despite gaining a whopping 2.3million followers in 24 hours.
The brief presence of the Roc Nation founder was seemingly to promote his new Western, The Harder They Fall, which he served as a producer on after posting a picture of the movie’s official poster.
He captioned the post simply: “The Harder They Fall,” with Facebook and Instagram owner Mark Zuckerberg being the first to comment with a hand-waving emoji.
Jay-Z also utilised the Instagram story feature for the first time, sharing a brief video that reminded fans when The Harder They Fall would be available on Netflix, starting at midnight PST.
He was also notably the only person ever followed by wife Beyoncé.
The stunning 40-year-old Lemonade singer has racked up an audience of 216million Instagram users, zero of whom she previously followed back.
She seemed to make an exception for her husband and reciprocated his follow.
Jay-Z and the superstar songstress have been married since 2008 and share three children – nine-year-old Blue Ivy and four-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.
Back in 2015, reports suggested that the Brooklyn rapper joined the social media platform to post a Michael Jackson tribute and then deleted his unverified account a few hours later.
Though the star is seemingly hesitant to join the popular social networking site, he does have a verified Twitter account which he launched 2008, though he uses it quite sparingly.
He recently posted on Halloween: “In my excitement, I failed to prize, and acknowledge JAZ-O, he was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible . Thank you good man… ok let me lose this password for another year or so . Thank you all again, incredibly humbled by your love.”
Before that he last tweeted in March, when he changed his Twitter handle to @sc and his display name to Mr. Carter, before announcing he was selling the majority of his streaming service Tidal to Square, run by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.
He reportedly was paid $297million in cash and stock for Tidal, while also given a seat on the Square board of directors.
The Harder They Fall is Jay-Z’s first producing venture since Darkest Before Dawn, which he executive produced in 2015, and the Annie adaptation which he produced in 2015.
The Harder They Fall follows outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors), who re-assembles his old gang upon learning is old rival Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) was released from prison.
