Jeremy Clarkson has slammed Formula One star Lewis Hamilton for being ‘too woke’.
It’s far from the first time The Grand Tour host Jeremy, 61, has took aim at the talented racing driver, having previously telling his Twitter followers that the racer “needed a smacked bottom” over his Hungarian Grand Prix antics.
But now he has once again taken aim at the star, claiming the crowds at his races always “boo” when Lewis thanks them for their support.
He went on to write in his Sun column this weekend: “The problem is that Lewis has changed.”
He hailed the sports star as “normal, bright and talented” when he first made his mark on the F1 world – but said recent displays have made him too “politically correct”.
Jeremy added: “He decided to go woke and right-on and more politically correct than a student union AGM.”
The so-called ‘woke brigade’ on social media “get Lewis to be a mouthpiece thinking he’ll convert the rest of us,” Jeremy added.
“But instead, we all just want to throw something at him.”
Lewis’ decision to sell his jet for environmental reasons and urge “everyone to be vegetarian” also didn’t sit well with the former Top Gear star.
As the first and only black Formula One driver, Lewis felt the importance of supporting the cause as he donned a black helmet with a new design last year at the Australian Grand Prix.
The helmet featured a Black Lives Matter message at the top which read Still We Rise.
He explained via social media: “On the top here, this is the whole reason that the helmet has changed colour, the suit has, and also the car. It’s supporting equality above all, and just really continuing to solidify that important message.”
Now-vegan athlete Lewis originally went vegan in 2017, and regularly urges his 30million social media followers to join him in his plant-based diet.
His brand of activism includes graphic videos of pigs headed to slaughter, to which Lewis added the caption: “The horrifying things that are happening to animals in order for you to keep eating meat is inhuman.
“Please don’t turn a blind eye, please don’t ignore it. Go plant-based.”
But those aren’t the only critiques Jeremy has for Lewis – as he also took aim at his Met Gala outfit for looking like a “wedding dress”.
Lewis turned up to the red carpet in a stunning dark suit complete with a sheer white lace shirt underneath, which trailed down one leg of his trousers to give it an over-skirt feel.
He matched it with a glittery silver earring and glossy black shoes, explaining to Vogue: “The Met is the biggest fashion event of the year, and for this theme I wanted to create something that was meaningful and would spark a conversation.”
