Jesy Nelson will still be sent a BRIT Award by the BPI if Little Mix win the 2021 award for British Group on Tuesday night – despite quitting the band last December.
The Shout Out To My Ex songstress, 29, called time on her girlband days after years of suffering with crippling anxiety alongside her bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
Since then she has hit the studio to carve out her own solo career.
A source told Daily Star: “Little Mix are very much a three piece now but if they win the award Jesy will still get sent a statue.
“As per BRIT awards rules every member of the band nominated get an award and she was a member for the time they are nominated for.
“It will no doubt be bitter sweet if Little Mix do win.”
Despite being nominated twice before, Little Mix have never won British Group at the BRITs.
While they have bagged ten nominations, the have only won twice.
First in 2017 for Shout Out To My Ex and most recently in 2019 for British Video of the Year for Woman Like Me.
In March this year Daily Star revealed how Jesy had split with her record label as part of her plan to become a solo star.
When the starlet was part of Little Mix she was signed to RCA which is part of the Sony Music umbrella.
A source at the time said: “It’s no secret Jesy has been hitting the studio recently but she’s no longer with RCA.
“It looks almost certain that she’s parted ways with Sony as a whole as well.
“She’s looked for a whole new team and since splitting with Little Mix Jesy has been pitched around for a new PR to head up her upcoming projects.
“All signs point to a clean break and totally new direction.”
Last month we revealed how Jesy has splashed out on studio time to record her debut single in the same studio where Sam Smith penned their record breaking debut album.
Jesy has been laying down her vocals at exclusive studio F Block with Brit nominated producer and writer Patrick Patrikios and London based singer-songwriter aB Keen.
“It’s got a great history of turning out some monster albums,” an insider spilled.
“Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour was written there, as was Emeli Sande’s debut album.”
The BRIT Awards kick off Tuesday, May 11 on ITV at 8pm
