Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has revealed Prince Charles was the mystery royal who reached out to her when her husband was battling Covid.
The Prince of Wales offered specialist royal doctors to treat Kate’s partner Derek Draper.
Derek is believed to be one of the longest-suffering coronavirus patients in Britain.
Kate discussed in her memoir, The Power Of Hope, the “utterly surreal” moment a Royal Family member got in touch with her.
However, at the time she didn’t name the member of The Firm but said they had kindly offered the services of a royal physician, to assist with Derek’s recovery.
The TV host described the letter as “lovely.”
The 54-year-old has met the royal on a number of occasions and was today heard thanking him for his kind gesture while attending an awards ceremony for Charles’ Princes’ Trust Awards.
Kate told Charles: “And you, you might not remember but you were very kind to me because my husband got very sick with Covid after the last Prince’s Trust awards.
“You wrote to me and gave me help from your doctors, so thank you very much…and he did improve.
Charles replied asking: “Is he better?”
Kate answered: “Not really. He’s got all the damage and all sorts, can’t speak, can’t walk.”
The Prince of Wales then realised how bad the effects really were and said: “Oh no! From the pandemic?”
Kate said: “Yes, he went down with it just after we were last here [in 2020] and we had the gathering and you did the Namaste, and it was just after that that he got sick and was in a coma for sort of 11 months.
Charles responded: “That’s incredible how it affects.”
The couple has two children together, Darcy and Billy.
Derek is now back living at home with his family but requires round-the-clock care.
Kate revealed in her ITV documentary, Finding Derek, that she had Covid at the same time her husband did.
She said: “It’s ridiculous, because I got it at the same time and I’m fine.”
