Katie Price has issued a statement following her sentencing at court on Wednesday, December 15.
The former glamour model and mum-of-five appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was spared jail time after pleading guilty to drink driving.
It follows the crash which took place near her home in Sussex in September.
District Judge Kelly sentenced Katie to a 16 weeks prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with Katie also having to undergo 100 hours of unpaid work in community.
Her driving ban has been kept to two years.
Now Katie has spoken out on Instagram, thanking her family for the support they’ve given her and discussing her mental health issues.
It read: “I would like to thank my family – my children, my mum, dad, sister, brother, my partner Carl, Leigh, and my friends who have supported me throughout these past few months.
“It’s been a really difficult time and I’m incredibly sorry for my actions – I’m sincerely grateful nobody was hurt – I realise the damage my actions could have caused not only to another family, but to my own as well,” Katie continued.
She went on: “I’m now spending time getting better – mental health is a hidden illness and can strike at any time.
“The triggers that cause my anxiety and behaviour are something I’m trying to understand, come to terms with, and learn to control moving forward.
“This will be a long process for myself and something I’ll continue to work on for the rest of my life. It’s also something I can work on with my family so we can progress on a new chapter together.
“Thank you for all the messages of goodwill that I’ve received. I’m going to surround myself with my loving family and friends and continue doing the work I love as it brings me enjoyment and helps my mental health. Thank you everyone.”
In court on Wednesday, District Judge Kelly told the I’m A Celeb star: “When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others.
“You could have killed somebody. Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time. You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time.
“You seem to think you are above the law.”
She added: “I cannot send you to jail today even though you may deserve to spend Christmas behind bars.
“You are extremely lucky the magistrates on a previous occasion decided to defer their decision.”
Katie’s defence barrister Joe Harrington, meanwhile told the court: “This is a lady with an awful lot going on.”
According to the prosecution explained, Katie had an alcohol level from a breath test of 66mg – the limit is 35mg.
She had consumed cocaine, vodka and lemonade before the crash, Sussex Live reports.
The prosecution also added: “There is no evidence Katie Price has been anything but co-operative,” referencing the ongoing proceedings.
Katie was pulled from the car by a passer-by, as the BMW had tipped onto its side and she had fallen into the passenger side.
Passer-by Mr Marchant managed to remove a window and pulled the mother-of-five from the damaged car. Police arrived at the scene shortly after.
