Letitia Wright has been taken to hospital after she injured herself after she attempted a dangerous stunt while filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The 27-year-old actress, who has returned for her role as Shuri in the hit superhero movie, suffered minor injuries during an overnight shoot in Boston on Wednesday.
According to a statement given to Deadline, the Marvel star was involved in an “incident” with the stunt rig which has caused her to need medical treatment.
It read: “Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
“She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.”
It is believed that her injuries are not expected to delay production on the film which is expected to hit the big screen in July 2022.
The British actress will be starring alongside her fellow co-stars Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’s, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett directed by world renowned director, Ryan Coogler.
I May Destroy You creator Michael Coel has also been confirmed to appear in the star-studded movie in a mysterious unknown role, alongside Dominique Thorne who is set to make her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as young inventor Riri Williams.
Filming first started for the epic Hollywood blockbuster back in June and is said to be an “emotional experience” after the death of star Chadwick Boseman who died last year.
The Golden Globe winner sadly passed away in August 2020 after his secret battle with colon cancer at the age of 43.
In a recent interview with Variety magazine, Marvel executive Kevin Feige admitted filming the sequel has been “clearly very emotional without Chad” for the entire cast and crew.
He added: “But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans.
“We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”
Fans are excited to see how the sequel will progress without its lead actor after Marvel bosses announced that his role won’t be recast in the sequel.
