Loose Women's Saira Khan 'refuses to hate herself' after weight gain in lockdown

Saira Khan is refusing to let her recent weight gain get in the way of her self-love.

The former Loose Women panelist, 50, opened up about learning to love her body as she encouraged her followers to embrace their curves.

Stripping down to lingerie, Saira – who quit Loose Women in January – shared a candid video of her body with fans on social media.

“I was just going to put a nice photograph of myself, but what I really want to talk about is this,” she told fans on her Instagram Story.

“Since last September, when I broke my fibular bone until this moment, I haven’t been able to do the things that I want to do when it comes to my fitness.”

She added: “I’m normally doing burpees, running and loads of cardio.

“That really has affected my mental health, and as a result, I’ve been emotionally eating and I have put on fat. I just feel uncomfortable in my clothes and it gets me down.”

Despite putting the pounds back on, Saira says she’s been able to lift her mood and spirits with gentle exercise and walks.

“I know when I feel good and energetic and healthy. Since last week, I’ve been able to walk,” she went on.

“Walking has lifted my mood and spirits, and improved my mental health. I’m back into it and I feel really positive again.

“Many of us want to do everything at once, my priority is to heal, so all I can do is walk and I’m going to enjoy it. Now my mental health is back in a good place, I’m going to focus on my diet. In the meantime, I’m not going to hate myself.”

Admitting that people are often too hard on themselves, Saira added: “I’m grateful that I have a body that I know how to get fit and healthy and I’m just going to enjoy the process.

“We beat up ourselves too much,” she noted.

“I know my shape and when I start putting weight around (my stomach) my body is telling me I’m eating too much and not exercising.”
