Lorraine Kelly emotionally wished Kate Garraway and husband Derek Draper a happy wedding anniversary on Friday’s instalment of Lorraine.
The host shared her admiration for the presenter following Kate’s emotional win at last night’s National Television Awards.
Lorraine said: “My admiration just gets more and more everyday. Just when you think you can’t admire her anymore, and then you can.”
The presenter also wished Kate Garraway and husband Derek happy anniversary, saying: “It’s her anniversary today as well, happy anniversary to her and Derek.”
Kate won the award for Best Documentary for her ITV project Finding Derek, which documented her husband’s struggles with Covid-19, at last night’s National Television Awards (NTAs).

Speaking about Kate Garraway as she accepted the award at last night’s ceremony, Lorraine said: “She was brilliant, she kept it so together.”
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. There was a standing ovation and it was such a moment, and rightly so,” Lorraine’s Showbiz reporter Ria Hebden chipped in.
Hebden said: “It’s the first time that this award has been up in the NTAs, Best Author Documentary, and this is the documentary that really touched the hearts of a nation through a really difficult time.
“We absolutely love Kate.”

Last night, Garraway paid tribute to her husband Derek and everyone who worked on the documentary in an emotional Instagram post.
In the post, Garraway said: “From him and from the bottom of our family’s hearts THANK YOU.
“For all who are struggling on and holding on to hope – this is for you. And to all the other wonderful nominations in the category, proud to be among you and I salute your brilliance & bravery xxx”.

Kate was described as “extraordinary” by Ria and Lorraine, with Hebden saying: “She shared a beautiful photo on her Instagram overnight, where she Facetimed Derek to tell him that they’d won the award, and I just love that.”
Lorraine also praised the nominees in the Best Authored Documentary award category at last night’s awards ceremony.
This year was the first time that the award category had been introduced at the event.
Documentaries nominated at the NTAs included Katie Price: Harvey and Me, Marcus Rashford: Feeding Britain’s Children, Rob Burrow: My Year With MND and Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency.
Lorraine said: “All of those documentaries were extraordinary, they really were, they were incredible.”
