Louise Minchin took to Twitter sharing a liberating underwater image of herself after announcing her final day on the BBC Breakfast.
The 52-year-old who has been a regular anchor on the morning programme since 2001 said it was “scary and exciting” to be stepping away from the programme after 20 years.
On Wednesday’s show, Louise confirmed that she would be occupying one side of the famous red sofa for the last time ever on September 15.
To mark her exit, the TV star took to social media to share a picture to describe her feelings as her leaving day fast approaches.
In the image, Louise can be seen submerged in deep crystal clear water with her arms raised up high above her head.
She captioned the snap: “This is what it feels like to be leaving #BBCBreakfast after so long.
“Scary but exciting like this clear water … officially my last day is the 15th September, thanks so much for your kind and supportive messages.”
Floods of well wishes from supportive fans were shared within the comments section.
One person said: “I remember what it felt like when Bill left…awful. 15th Sept is not going to feel any better. Disappointed but relieved face.
“Whatever you go on to do though, I’m sure you’ll be successful Lou, and more importantly, Happy.”
Another wrote: “Your fantastic personality, presenting and interviewing skills will be missed by us all for sure Louise but you so deserve to enjoy yourself and the new adventures that await you & I wish you every happiness. God Bless.”
A third added: “You’ll be really missed! Loved watching you on bbc breakfast all these years. Going to miss your banter with Dan. You’re leaving big shoes to fill. Good luck with your next chapter x”
While a fourth penned: “The red sofa simply won’t be the same without you @BBCBreakfast.”
On Wednesday’s show, Louise revealed in an on-air chat with co-star Dan Walker that she had just six shows remaining before she’d officially be drawing the curtain.
“I said I was going to leave, didn’t I, after the summer? I’m not going today, but I am going to be leaving this programme on the 15th of September, so I think it’s two weeks,” added Louise.
Dan responded: “So that’s only six programmes left?”
Louise joked: “Very good maths, yeah. Not that you and I have both been counting or anything.”
“This is quite big though, Louise, because how long have you done Breakfast for again?” Dan asked.
“Well, it would have been 20 years in December this year, so it’s a big change and honestly, still, when that alarm goes off every morning, I’m like, ‘Ugh’ – that’s the thing I’m most looking forward to,” chuckled Louise.
