Love Island’s Salma Naran burst into the Casa Amor villa in a group of six beautiful bombshells, but viewers at home have become increasingly concerned about her lack of airtime.
Many fans have spoken out on Twitter regarding the absence of the 20-year-old Irish model and someone else who feels very strongly about this is her friend and hairstylist Deborah Soso.
Salma and Deborah, the owner of SoSoLuxe Hair, first met in January 2020, when Salma won a competition on Debora’s hairstyling account, winning a full makeover – including hair by her and makeup by @facesbyhuaku.
Debora has since stayed in touch with Salma who she describes as a “lovely and bubbly girl” and has only now tuned in to the show after finding out Salma would be going on it.
When asked what she thought about Salma’s Love Island experience so far, Debora, 22, said: “I wasn’t watching Love Island until Salma was on it.
“She’s not getting enough screen time and it’s really annoying to Irish people.
“Because we are all watching in support of her and like I said I wasn’t watching Love Island before because I thought it was cr*p this year so it was only to see Salma and we’re all rooting for her.”
Salma’s best friend, Ionela De Almeida, 22, also told The Daily Star her concerns about producers not including more of her model pal and whether she should be getting more screentime.
The Dublin-based nail technician said: “Yes, I completely think she should. Even if it was her in a conversation with the girls or doing her makeup.
“I’m hoping for anything at this point. I just want everyone to get to know the person she is at least.”
The last Love Island series her friend Deborah watched was series five – Molly-Mae Hague’s era – and she wishes her friend had an entrance like the now massively successful influencer did.
She added: “The way I see it is, if Salma was one of the bombshells like you know the way Molly-Mae came in, it would have been so much better for her.”
Her pal also added that she thinks American footballer bombshell Medhy Malanda would be a good fit for the Irish model.
“You know the guy Medhy – I would have wanted to see her with him, but they are two in different houses so I don’t know how they would get to see each other – unless something else happens. But I’d love to see them together.”
When quizzed on if Salma would be comfortable in stepping on the girls’ toes, Deborah that she definitely would.
“Once Salma gets her chance and I think she would definitely step on toes, she has it in her, I just hope we see more of it,” she said.
The hairstylist also revealed that the beauty is used to getting tonnes more attention on the outside than she is in the villa.
She said: “In Ireland, definitely, I do think she gets more attention than she’s getting in the house right now but I feel like it could turn over and something may happen that we’re not expecting.”
When asked about her past relationships, Deborah said she didn’t know much as her client and friend was a private person.
“The thing is Salma is a very private girl – so I don’t know her type but I know I see people telling her to just talk to Hugo just to try to get in the villa,” she added.
“Knowing Salma, I’ve never heard of her being in a relationship, it could be for love or could be for opportunities, but if she did get the opportunities that would be brilliant, I want to see her get her PrettyLittleThing deal.”
Fans of the ITV2 dating show were also up in arms regarding Salma being forced to jump in the pool while wearing her 40-inch wig which was priced at £1,800.
Deborah laughed and said: “I saw that, yeah, I’m not sure about prices but 40 inches is very long. I would be mortified.
“From a hairstylist perspective, you would be like ‘OMG OMG, it’s 40 inches!’ but if it’s good quality, then there’s no worries.”
