Mr Bean slapped with warning over 'rude' content by BritBox bosses

Kids’ show Mr Bean has been slapped with a warning over its “rude” content.

One episode features the hapless hero enjoying a day out at the local swimming pool.

But when Mr Bean plucks up the courage to jump off the top diving board, he loses his trunks.

And the character – played by Rowan Atkinson – is in hot water when a girl fishes them out of the pool and wanders off.

Bumbling Bean is then left having to get back to the changing rooms naked without being spotted.

Viewers see a long distance shot of him getting out of the pool – and his blurred backside can be seen.

But that was enough for streaming service BritBox to warn about the episode’s “mild nudity”.

A spokesman said: “We review and refresh BritBox’s programme catalogue on an ongoing basis.

Programming on the service that contains potentially sensitive language or attitudes of their era has carried appropriate warnings since our launch in November 2019, to ensure the right guidance is in place for viewers who are choosing to watch on demand.”

Censors are poring through hours of classic British telly to flag up content that might offend.

BritBox – co-owned by the BBC and ITV – have stuck warnings on thousands of hours of classic telly.

In May much-loved 90s show Keeping Up Appearances was given a viewer discretion warning.

While Desmond’s was hammered for “racial stereotyping” in a gag about Chinese people.

Snowflakes have also been warned One Foot in the Grave contains “mild language”.

While comic Tommy Cooper – famous for wearing a fez – used “racial humour and imagery that may offend some viewers”.
