Ne-Yo reveals wife kicked him out of bed after hearing new song about ex-lovers

Ne-Yo has exclusively revealed to Daily Star that he was kicked out of bed by his wife after she heard his new single.

We caught up with the American star while he walked the red carpet for the annual Daily Mirror Pride of Britain awards.

Chatting to Ne-Yo about his newly released track What If that looks back and reminisces over a past love and what could have been, he told us exactly what his wife thought of the romantic lyrics.

Explaining what her reaction was when she realised the song wasn’t about her, Ne-Yo revealed that the reception from his wife wasn’t as warm as usual.

When asked what his wife of five years, Crystal Renay, thought of his new music, he said: “Yeah, there’s one [song] in particular.”

“She had some questions. And I had some really, really quick answers. Some of them she accepted and some of them she didn’t and I spent a night or two on the couch.”

He then assured us that the couple were still very much together, and said: “But ultimately she likes the song and I think we’re gonna be okay.”

The Masked Singer UK star revealed that his latest album had been inspired by things that happen in real life, and told us that everything he has ever written has come from life itself.

“Um, you know what all of everything that I’ve ever written is always coming from either it’s something going on in my life, or something going on in the lives of people close enough and willing to tell me the story.

“So not every story is most is but not all. But that’s where the confusion says that she’s like, No, babe, this is another person…”

Earlier in the week, the American singer appeared on Good Morning Britain to promote the song that left him sleeping on the sofa.

It was on GMB that he revealed how the lyrics in his new song are “very dangerous” for a “married man.”
