Nikki Grahame's cause of death confirmed as anorexia as hospital probe continues

Big Brother legend Nikki Grahame’s cause of death has been confirmed as anorexia as a hospital investigation examining the events before she died continues.

The star passed away on April 9 and a doctor recorded Nikki’s cause of death as Anorexia Nervosa.

Nikki’s heartbroken mum Susan had spoken about her daughter’s battle with the eating disorder when she appeared on This Morning just a week earlier.

As a result of Nikki’s death being due to natural causes an inquest won’t need to take place.

However, Daily Star can confirm that Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will continue to examine the events surrounding her death.

The 38-year-old was admitted to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester in March after suffering a serious fall.

She reportedly fractured her lower spine in the accident which happened as she stopped to visit a pharmacy on the way to her mum’s Dorset home.

Nikki was then transferred to a short-stay acute ward for three weeks before being discharged on April 8.

It has been reported that Nikki’s family believe she was discharged too early and they wanted doctors to keep her under 24/7 medical attention over fears about her plummeting weight.

Upon returning to London Nikki contacted friends to tell them she was home safe but just hours later Nikki was found dead.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 12:04hrs on Friday, 9 April to reports of an unresponsive woman at an address in Stanmore.

“Officers attended. At the scene a woman, aged 30s, had been found deceased.”

A London Ambulance spokesperson added: “We were called at 11.49am on Friday 9 April to reports of an incident at a residential property in Stanmore.

“We sent two ambulance crews, a medic in a car, and an incident response officer.

“Sadly, a person had died at the scene.”

A spokesperson for Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “Staff at the Trust were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Miss Grahame, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Miss Grahame.

“A full internal investigation into the care Miss Grahame received is currently underway.

“This is in line with standard procedures following any sudden death. All information and findings arising from this investigation will be shared confidentially with Miss Grahame’s family.”

Prior to her death, Nikki’s friends set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for private treatment for her anorexia.

The page received more than £70,000 in donations from shocked fans who were terrified by how ill their idol had become.

Nikki, who shot to fame back in Big Brother 7 in 2006 with the winner of that year Pete Bennett, endured a whirlwind romance with Pete.

Their relationship ended a month after the show but they remained close friends ever since with Pete saying he rushed to see Nikki in her last days.

He shared Nikki’s heartbreaking final text to him before she went for treatment at a private clinic to battle her eating disorder.

The Big Brother star sounded positive in the text which read: ’Hey Petie, all good my end. Starting a clinic on Monday, which is good. And the sun is shining today!’”
