Though the name ‘Mental Mickey’ might not immediately ring any bells, eager fans of cult TV hit Only Fools and Horses will certainly remember him.
Played by Daniel Peacock, Mickey Maguire, AKA Mental Mickey, is the lead singer of ‘A Bunch of Wallies’ – a band which cosmic Rodney Trotter joins as a drummer.
Eternally greedy older brother Del Boy signs up to be their manager in his latest get-rich-quick scheme, and it soon becomes clear that Mickey is rather eccentric.
He rather cheerfully confesses to Del that he’s “been to Broadmoor once or twice”.
But though you might be having trouble placing Daniel at first, you shouldn’t have the same problem with his father, Trevor Peacock.
Best known for his portrayal of Jim Trott in BBC sitcom The Vicar of Dibley, Trevor also appeared in a whole host of other programmes and films including EastEnders, Fred Claus and Jonathan Creek.
The 89-year-old actor tragically died in March this year following a dementia-related illness.
He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2013, and began marketing small sculptures made from twigs in his garden labelled ‘Trevor trees’ to raise money for medical research.
But his son Daniel is continuing to blaze a trail through the comedy world, with roles in Matt Berry’s sitcom Toast of London, The Bill, and The Comic Strip Presents…
And Trevor isn’t Daniel’s only famous connection – his half-brother Harry is married to IT Crowd star Katherine Parkinson, and he too has starred in shows like Star Stories, The Bill, Band of Brothers and Doctor Who.
He even stars alongside his wife Katherine in BBC sitcom The Kennedys.
Elsewhere in the world of Only Fools and Horses, it emerged in March this year that actress Eva Mottley – who played Denzil’s sharp-tongued wife Corinne in the show – reportedly had a two-year affair with rock legend David Bowie.
She met him after launching an acting career following a 15-month prison stint for possession of LSD, when she was moving in various celebrity circles.
The star tragically died of a drug overdose aged just 31, and was found dead on Valentine’s Day in 1985 at her West London flat.
