Oprah Winfrey has dismissed suggestions she could become the godmother to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The chat show host legend is a close friend of the Sussexes and is their neighbour in Montecito, California, US.
She has also worked with Harry on a new mental health series for Apple TV+ and the couple chose Oprah for their explosive tell-all interview in March.
It has led to speculation that she could be made the godmother of Lilibet.
But, speaking to US programme Entertainment Tonight, the 67-year-old appeared to shut down the rumours.
“I don’t need to be a godmother, I’m a godmother by default,” she said.
“I’m a neighbour, I’m a friend and all that, you probably need someone younger to be the godmother.”
She also said she “loved” the name Lilibet Diana, adding: “I’ve got to send them something special for Father’s Day.”
It wouldn’t be the first time Oprah has sent Harry and Meghan a gift.
Back in May 2020, the Duchess of Sussex was filmed reading a book to Archie for his first birthday.
But fans noticed a sticker on the front cover which read “Archie’s Bookclub”, a link to Oprah’s famous 24-year-old book club.

It was later revealed the American presenter sent the family a number of books, which she said was a “standard gift” for people she “really cares about”.
In their now-famous interview with Oprah earlier this year, the Sussexes made a number of bombshell revelations about their struggles within the Royal Family.
And during their joint documentary The Me You Can’t See, Harry candidly opened up about the mental health battles he faced during his time in the UK.
He even said the thought of going back to London gave him anxiety, particularly given the torment his late mum Princess Diana was put through during her lifetime.
