Oprah Winfrey rumoured to have pursued Harry and Meghan since their wedding

Oprah Winfrey is rumoured to have pursued Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for a chance of an interview ever since their royal wedding, The Sun reported.

Meghan and Harry hit headlines earlier this week after they agreed to do a 90-minute tell-all interview with her next month.

The chat show legend, 67, was one of the many A list guests in attendance at the pair’s Windsor royal wedding in 2018.

However despite attending the ceremony with husband Stedman Graham, 69, Oprah actually only ever met Meghan once before.

Reflecting on the royal wedding, Oprah said in June 2018: “It was transformative. It was a cultural moment. You could not be there and not feel there was a shift happen in the middle of it.”

“It’s bigger than them both. I think it bodes well for hope for all of us,” she added.

News of Harry and Meghan’s CBS special interview came to light on Monday as the network announced the programme will air on March 7, titled Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special.

The network said Oprah spoke with Meghan on “a wide-ranging interview covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood (and) philanthropic work, to how she is handling life under intense public pressure”.

The pair will later be joined “by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family”.

But now there are whispers claiming Oprah has been after them for an interview since attending their nuptials.

Oprah lives just around the corner from Meghan and Harry’s luxe pad.

What’s more, Oprah is close pals with Meghan’s mum Doria, with the pair actually hanging out and attending yoga sessions together.

The chat show host was last year quizzed on whether she gave the former royals any advice or tried arranging an interview – however Oprah shut these claims down.

And when asked about the pair’s departure from the royal lifestyle last year, Oprah said: “I support them 1,000 per cent. He did what he needed to do for his family.”

And when she was asked whether an interview with the pair was on the cards, she said: “I sure would like it to be true.”

Though Oprah had never met Harry prior to their wedding, she previously swapped emails every week as they worked together on a mental health docu-series in 2019. However the doc was never screened.
