Amanda Owen has worried her fans after she posted pictures of her family wild swimming.
The star of Channel 5’s hit docuseries Our Yorkshire Farm shared some candid photos of her family frolicking through the water near their Ravenseat Farm home, including the family favourite Tony the Pony.
Captioning the adorable pics, Amanda wrote: “After an insanely busy time we have been enjoying a cooling off period.
“We’ve taken to the water but thought it apt that we share some brilliant advice & information from @theoutdoorsswimmingsociety via a story on how to enjoy the water safely.”
But despite this, some of her eagle eyes fans were worried about the colour of the water and took to Twitter to voice their concerns.
One concerned fan wrote: “Why is the water red?”
Another echoed the worry, asking: “Why does the water look like a rusty colour.”
“Why is the water always so brown??” questioned a third.
Fortunately, Amanda’s followers were there with the answer, which was all to do with the amount of peat in the water discolouring the water.
One follower replied: “I think it’s because it will have run through peat. Water in that part of the Dales makes an excellent Yorkshire Tea brew.”
Another confirmed: “The water will be peaty .. hence the colour.”
“It’s the peat in the soil,” echoed a third.
Others did not even notice the colour of the water, they were so distracted by Amanda modelling a navy blue bikini decorated with white polka dots.
The former model beamed at the camera as her hair blew in the wind as she accessorised with a pair of sunglasses on her head.
Recently, the star spoke out against critics who claimed her occasional glam appearances stop her from being a shepherdess during an appearance on Simon Armitage’s BBC Radio 4 podcast The Poet Laureate Has Gone to His Shed.
She told Simon: “Maybe it’s a bit of a strange diversification but if you can make living out of writing about sheep, and taking photographs of sheep, as well as wrestling them to the ground and shearing them, then all well and good.
“And anybody who wishes to say: ‘Well you’re not a shepherd anymore because you’ve got a pair of stilettos on and a body-con dress’.
“I will say: ‘Oh yes I am’, because it’s still all about the farm and all about the sheep at the end of the day.”
