Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid to be replaced as Kate Garraway confirms shake-up

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid will be missing from Good Morning Britain next Monday, with two different presenters taking over their usual weekday slot.

Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd will instead host the Monday show, the presenters have confirmed, in a surprise ITV shake-up.

Ben and Kate typically host the Thursday or Friday editions of GMB, alternating with the likes of Ranvir Singh, Charlotte Hawkins, Adil Ray and Sean Fletcher.

Meanwhile, Piers and Susanna are known to front the show from Monday to Wednesday, though they occasionally take time off for annual leave.

However, confirming the swap on Friday’s show, Kate said: “Ben and I are back at six on Monday.”

The presenter, 53, then welcomed fellow host Lorraine Kelly to the screen, wrapping the Friday segment and bidding farewell to viewers.

Longtime friends Kate and Ben had viewers laughing earlier in the episode, when they discussed the “lockdown heroes” deserving of praise during the pandemic.

Mum-of-two Kate gave a shout out to her milkman, Mick, who has kindly been delivering extra groceries during the lockdown, giving her family a helping hand in their hour of need.

However, when the GMB star described the kind-hearted notes her milkman would write, her co-host Ben couldn’t help but spot an innuendo.

She said: “Mick, my milkman, who has just been amazing.

“He has absolutely just kept me going because he’ll leave me little notes saying ‘do you need anything extra other than the milk?'”

However, as Ben and weatherman Alex Beresford burst out laughing, Kate added: “I mean, like bread, butter or orange juice which he also supplies, he leaves a little smiley face.”

Ben then quipped: “I bet he does! Are you still answering the door in your dressing gown and those fluffy slippers?”

Kate was left completely red-faced over the misunderstanding, as she cradled her head in her hands in embarrassment.

She exclaimed: “I tell you what, Mick, thank you. Shall we move on to other people’s messages now I’ve got myself in trouble? Even I didn’t see that one coming.”

Wrapping the segment, she added: “It’s just in my head I think however long night I’ve had, whatever’s gone on, I’ll be able to have a cup of tea.”

With a twinkle in his eye, Ben answered: “Mick will sort you out!”

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
