Saturday Night Takeaway fans stunned as Sir Tom Jones using old flip phone

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway fans were left stunning this week after spotting Sir Tom Jones using an old flip phone over a decade old.

The Welsh music legend appeared in a short skit with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly ahead of performing during the End of the Show Show.

While the phone wasn’t referenced by either Ant or Dec or it was quickly noted by eagle-eyed fans.

Flip phones were popular in the early 2000s, before the launch of iPhones and smartphones we use today.

Taking to Twitter, fan wrote: “Erm… Tom Jones still has a flip phone #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

Another added: “Tom Jones rocking the flip phone on #SaturdayNightTakeaway What a baller!”

Meanwhile, a third teased: “#SaturdayNightTakeaway Sir Tom Jones was using a phone almost as old as him there.”

During the segment, good natured Tom pretended to call his agent to stop Ant and Dec performing with him.

Chatting on the phone, he admitted he wasn’t keen about sharing the stage.

As the segment continued, Ant and Dec could be seen walking down the corridor trying to listen in.

The Geordie duo got the wrong end of the stick and thought that Sir Tom, 80, wanted fellow guests Tom and Jerry to not take part.

Dec said to Sir Tom: “You don’t need to say anything we completely understand.

“A legend like you shouldn’t have to share the stage with a double act who are a pair of fools.”

Sir Tom looked shocked and thanks the lads for taking his thoughts in good nature – unaware they had crossed wires.

As they walked off, Dec added to Ant: “Anyway you heard him.

“He said he doesn’t want Tom and Jerry any where near the end the show show so we need to keep them away from the stage.”
