The 48-year-old actress married her high-school sweetheart at just 18, but they divorced in 1993. The couple had a son named Manolo two years prior to their divorce in 1991.
In 2000 Sofia was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, where she had to have her thyroid removed. She underwent the surgery and went on to make a full recovery.
