Fans have speculated over tensions between the ex-Coronation Street star and her professional partner during their Strictly Come Dancing journey.
Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez were eliminated from the show on Sunday night after appearing in the bottom two dance-off with Judi Love.
Speaking to Rylan Clark-Neal on the popular spin off show It Takes Two, Katie opened up about the friendship the pair had formed and insisted they would remain friends despite their Strictly journey coming to an end.
The pair admitted they had experienced difficulties during training due to Katie’s commitment to filming for Hollyoaks.
Katie said: “It was so much fun and to end the movie week was just the final gem for me. We left on a high with movie week.
“The whole reason I entered was to learn to dance because I’m not a dancer. I have no regrets.”
Fans had pointed out online, however, that the pair had no chemistry and they were dubious when Katie said they pair had become friends.
When Katie reassured Rylan that she would remain friends with Gorka post-Strictly, the pro dancer simply smiled at her in a manner that Rylan immediately picked up on as awkward.
The host of It Takes Two said: “That didn’t look convincing.”
Gorka was quick to respond: “Yes of course.”
One Strictly fan tweeted: “There was no chemistry between Katie and Gorka and I really don’t know why she signed up for the show if her work schedule was full.
“Everyone knows the commitment needed for the show. She took a space that someone else could have had.”
Katie was eliminated from the show after two weeks in the bottom two and Gorka’s partner Gemma Atkinson revealed the pair had ‘no rehearsal time’ to pull off the difficult dance routines.
Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-one wrote: “@katiemcglynn you should be SO proud of yourself.
“Doing those dances with practically no rehearsal time at all is incredible. I struggled with 8hrs a day never mind 3hrs. You did ace.
“The best team. You did yourself and Gorks proud.”
Katie took to her Instagram to dispel rumours of a rift between Gorka and herself, she wrote: “I’ve loved every second of rehearsals with @gorka_marquez and performing each week!
“I’m really gutted that my time on the show has come to an end so soon, I feel like I had so much more to give and really wanted to carry on pushing myself and learning from the professionals that I am absolutely in awe of.”
