Len Goodman has revealed that Dan Walker is his favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing 2021 because of his imposing figure.
The former Strictly judge, 76, has spoken out after he previously picked out the BBC Breakfast host as his frontrunner to win the BBC dancing show.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said: “I played golf the other week with Dan Walker and he’s up for it. I tell you, he’s a competitive sort of guy.”
GMB host Susanna Reid had quipped: “He pretends to be Mr Nice Guy, doesn’t he? But actually he’s absolutely gonna grab that trophy.”
Although he didn’t know how good Dan was as a dancer, Len praised Dan’s competitive nature.
He replied: “Whether he’s good I don’t know, however, he won’t lose for lack of trying.”
Chatting to Express.co.uk, the ballroom legend explained that he chose Dan to win because of his physical attributes.
He said: “The reason I went with Dan Walker [to win] is that I saw him play golf…I played golf with him.
“All I know is he’s tall and he’s not fat which is a good start.”
Len previously told Good Morning Britain that he is a massive fan of this year’s star-studded line-up, hailing it as a “lovely eclectic mix of people”.
Dan is partnered up with Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova, and they’ve been competing against the likes of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, McFly star Tom Fletcher and Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Tilly Ramsay.
The BBC presenter has lost a third of a stone in weight whilst training for the show before it had even kicked off.
The star announced he would be taking part in the hit show in August, telling his BBC Breakfast co-hosts: “I’m not making any room on our shelf for the Glitterball (Trophy).”
He added: “My kids have only ever asked me to go on two shows… Saturday Mash-Up and Strictly. I did Saturday Mash-Up this summer so… it’s time to embrace the sequins.”
