Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas explained that doctors had warned her lump that had been discovered by fans was “concerning”.
Having undergone blood work at the hospital, the 61-year-old TV star now had her results and there were a number of factors that were worrying.
Shirley explained that her hormone levels were “not right” and more scans were needed to understand what was at the root of the problem.
Had eagle-eyed BBC fans not have spotted the the lump on her arm she would have been none the wiser.
During an appearance on the glitzy BBC dancing competition, a number of viewers flagged to Shirley that she had an alarming looking lump on her arm – with many urging for her to get it checked.
Having heeded the warning, Shirley booked an appointment to have the small growth looked at by a professional.
Updating on expert findings, the TV judge also wanted to offer up a wholehearted thanks to fans who had come forward and brought the health issue to her attention in the first place.
Speaking to camera Shirley said: “Good afternoon everyone we are just having a check up.
“Since several of you saw a lump under my arm and I went to get that checked, then a doctor thought my levels were not right – my hormone levels weren’t right.
“Anyway, so I went and had a lot of blood work done and now the testosterone has come back ultra-high, the adrenal glands need a scan and my ovaries need a scan, my estrogen levels are extremely low.”
She added: “All in all a little concerning.”
Sharing the update with her 200,000 Instagram fans, she wrote: “So blood work back.
“A little concerning so doctor is making an appointment at Kings to check certain odd things happening in my body I won’t go into the details at the moment.
“Any way to each and every one of you who started me on this road thank you so much.
“I’ll keep you all updated each and every one of you.
“Remember health is wealth so I’ll be on top of these issues for the time being. With gratitude to you all. #health #gratitude.”
The former ballroom champion has in the past spoke openly about her family’s history with breast cancer and underwent surgery to remove her breast implant in 2019.
A flood of support filtered beneath the post from many friends, loved ones and co-stars.
Fellow judge Motsi Mabuse wrote “take care of yourself”, while host Tess Daly added “sending love”.
