One Show presenter Rylan Clark-Neal was in a rather abrupt mood on Monday, after he tried to educate his co-host Alex Jones on the word “broom”.
On Monday evening’s show, hosts Rylan and Alex discussed home workouts after a video was shown on the programme that demonstrated people across the UK doing workouts with objects around the home.
In the VT, a woman named Ella showcased the online workout classes that she does from home and the inexpensive equipment that she uses such as brooms to help her with her fitness.
In the video, Ella admitted to being called “the broom girl” by those who partake in her virtual class.
Once the video had finished it was back to the studio where Rylan felt the need to correct fellow presenter Alex on her terminology for the word broom.
Speaking frankly, Rylan said: “Aww massive thank you to Ella, which just goes to show you don’t need all the fancy stuff.”
“You don’t!” Alex chimed.
Rylan added: “Tin of beans and a broom.”
The former X Factor star then mocked Alex’s Welsh accent and said: “Not the floor brush.”
“That’s not a broom, I mean well it is a broom but a broom is what witches have, we’ll talk after the show.”
Trying to get a word in, Alex said: “This is all new to me, I thought it was a floor brush.”
The Welsh presenter then continued to present the next segment in the show.
Last week The One show announced that former Boyzone member Ronan Keating will be joining the show on a more permanent basis.
Ronan and ex-footballer Jermaine Jenas have been standing in for former presenter Matt Baker who left the show a year ago, but now both presenters have been given permanent roles on the evening programme.
Speaking on the news, The One Show editor Rob Unsworth said: “We’re thrilled to have Ronan and Jermaine join us as the regular One Show hosts alongside Alex on the sofa.
“It’s an exciting new chapter for the show, and we’re looking forward to viewers getting to know a different side to such well-known faces.”
Singer Ronan will still continue to co-present the Magic Radio breakfast show in the mornings but said he’s “delighted” to be a part of the BBC evening show.
